VPACE Moritz 24 Review

At just over 22 lbs this 120 mm front/ 120 mm rear suspension the VPACE Mortiz 24 offers an extremely small fitting bike for kids 120 to 140 cm tall. The strategy is to get kids on to bigger wheel sizes as early as possible to reap the benefits…think the 29er principle for kids. So be sure to measure the kids as you may be able to size up a category as they offer the bike in 26 and 27.5 formats.

The Bike Dads' Take:

"Where does this bike fit and what type of MTB kids should be riding it? Well, this bike with its light weight and effective suspension excels climbing up and smashing down trails. It would also do extremely well in the bike-park with some beefier tires. Every part from the grips, bars, stem and on are thought with little kids in mind. The attention to detail shows and this unique offering of getting the smallest of kids on a 24 inch bike sets a standard for a light weight all mountain bike for kids."-Colin

Great review. I am looking for a FS bike for my almost 7 year old. I think he is on the low end of the 26er but it should fit him fine. we need a bike that does it all. we do a lot of XC style riding and most kids FS bikes are too heavy and the DH geo just does not work. Also considering the YT, Rocky Mtn and Transition. Would appreciate any input. Called Vpace today the bikes are available again in Sept. and they will ship vial Fedex for $190. Their price incl. VAT of 16% which will be deducted.

For what you described, I would also look at a Trailcraft maxwell 24…especially if XC is primary terrain. The VPACE is more climb up to descend due to its longer Chain Stays and slacker HA. It does this very well (it is also great for lift accessed bike park).

Hi! Thanks for a great review. My now 8 yr old son has been riding the VpaceMax24 for 2.5 yrs now with rigid carbon fork, and it has been great. Time to get a fs bike for him though for general trail and some enduro riding. Torn between Moritz275 and Norco sight youth 27.5”, also YT Jeffsy 26” or Moritz26 are on the list. He should be 140cm by the time the bike arrives. Vpace’s win the weight contest easily, but I could get a norco sight and upgrade to very light carbon wheels w pretty much the same money as a Moritz275… Any thoughts and experiences on these or other bikes would be hugely appreciated! Thank you!

They are all great bikes. And these days, in-stock is an issue. 27.5 wheels will make a difference for carrying speed and roll over but the 26 will be more manageable in certain situations. If you are planning to climb a lot than than weight should be high on the priority list. The Norco is definitely the most capable bike with 150mm fork, 27.5 wheels and a 63.5 HA (great for steep terrrain and lift access biek park). Other bikes to look at our the 26 reaper and the Trailcraft 26.

So, is the Vpace a lot better than the Trailcradft?
My son is now 128cm tall and I am starting to look for some of the convertible 24/26″ bikes with a preference on the Propain Yuma but now locking the Vpace Moritz 26 with only 10.7 kg. weight and designed for kids from 130cm. would make the extended life as those convertible bikes.

Totally different bikes but both making very quality product pushing weights down. Think Trailcract as a kids trail bike that does everything well. Shorter stays and steeper angles make it comfortable dirt Jumping, hot laps down flow trails and ruling single track. The VPACE is more an all mountain bike that is smaller fitting (sometimes possible to size up a wheel size), longer stays and wheelbase and slacker. It excels climbing up to smash down and would be very comfortable shuttling laps or in the bike park.
