Shotgun Kids MTB Seat

Raising a future mountain biker?

If so, you need to check out the new shotgun kids MTB seat (riding shotgun – get it?)

The shotgun seat is a front mounted child seat for kids 2 - 5 years, designed for the next generation of mountain bikers. The seat has been on sale in Australia and New Zealand for the past 12 months – although it’s only just become available to MTB parents in North America and Europe, just in time for summer.

Not just another child seat.

The shotgun seat is a bit different to the other front mounted child seats out there. First up, it has no harness, so rather than transporting your little person around like a piece of luggage, they’ll actually be engaged in riding with you – which is why they need to be at least 2 years old.  Secondly, it’s quick release – so it’s easy to fit and remove with no clamps or adaptors left on your bike, and you can easily swap it between bikes too.

The shotgun seat is fully adjustable to fit all MTB’s, and for those Moms and Dads riding a high-end carbon dream machine, the shotgun seat has moulded rubber frame protection, so it won’t scratch or damage your pride and joy.

If you’re looking for the full experience, there’s also a set of mini-handlebars for your little person to hold  – which is ideal for making your little guy or gal part of the adventure. Otherwise they can hold onto the middle of your handlebars.

Interesting! How do you guys think this will compare to the Mac-ride?

Stay tuned…we are reviewing it soon. First thoughts- Lighter steering due to frame mount, mounts to frame so no need for space under stem, longer to get on/off, no stirrup length adjustment.
