"One of the smallest fitting and lightest 20 inch full suspension bike on the market, I was drawn to the Frechdax for my year old. Both really good bikes for the advanced rider doing a lot of descending, tow roping and bike parks. The Propain is nice because to the small fit and really nice fork for light kiddos.

Did you have any concerns with the head angle? At this point it looks like one of the steeper head angles for kids bikes. My daughter is currently on a prevelo zulu 2, and I really like the stability of the 66 degree head angle. Thanks!

Not at all. Kids of this sized are not going to be riding steep terrain and the slightly steeper HA will provide slightly more precise steering at slower speeds. Come 24 inch, 66 HA is more fitting as the kids speeds are up and the terrain may be more steep.

We just ordered this bike. What do you suggest in terms of other good upgrades to the bike (other than saddle or grips)? Any good upgrades from a weight savings perspective? How are the shifters and brakes on the bike for small hands?

With a bit of effort you can make the tires tubeless which will lower rotational weight. At this age the brakes are fine as they are not one finger braking yet. Other than seat and narrow diameter bar, Everything is pretty dialed on the bike with maybe the exception of the rear derailleur… ours shipped with a clucth derailleur but I believe this years does not. Its’ a phenomenal bike for its purpose! Enjoy.

Better rear derailleur, bigger cassette + dropper => 800+m/2600+feet of elevation gain in 1 ride won’t be an issue for active 6-7YO 😉
In such config we fit into 10,7kg/23,59lbs with pedals and tubes.

What’s the minimum saddle height for this bike? Our son is 38 inches tall within a 16 inch inseam. He is 3 years old and we recently started downhill mountain biking on his Early Rider Seeker 14:

What are your thoughts on this bike for our 3 year old son? Too big and heavy still? We will be receiving a Prevelo Zulu Two Heir in July, and are looking forward to that. But this bike looks awesome too!

This is a 21.5 inch min seat height. Way too big for him. The Zulu Heir will be plenty…

They wouldn’t ship from Germany even with the offer to pay “whatever it takes” to ship to the US, and no information was shared about distribution, so we went with another bike (also from Germany). Shipping for that bike was only $49 DHL. Propain missed out on at least one sale.
