Prevelo Bikes has re-designed their kids MTB line this after only one year in operation...amazing. A successful first season, they managed to improve on an already great frame a part spec. In the case of the new 16 inch hardtail, the Zulu 2 Heir, Prevelo have gone beyond any other bike manufacturer big or small to develop a kids specific 16 inch travel air fork. Here we look at this amazing little machine and see how it stands out from other 16 inch bikes. Thanks to Prevelo Bikes for providing a bike to review.

The Bike Dads' Take:
"This bike is exactly what we were looking for. The fork is truly incredible with its ability to soak up bumps with lightest of weight riders. Wide rims and wide tires offer amazing traction and enhance the shredability with its longer wheelbase, 67 degree HA and hydraulic dis brakes. The kids specific handlebar, grips and cranks are welcome features for these tiny rippers. If your little 4/5 year wants to descend MTB flow trails with you...this bike is the answer." -Colin
If the fit / geometry were very similar for both bikes, would recommend a 16” with a fork ( that worked) or 20” rigid?
20 inch rigid for sure. Only the Heir fork makes sense for a 16 fork but the jump to 20 inch wheels far outweighs the fork on a 16 (even the heir 16). Even better, get a 20 inch with good air fork.
was wondering where I can buy zulu two heir. all marketplaces not available now. 🙁
subscribe to Prevelo’s back in stock list.
where do you get the mud guards for prevelo bikes? i got a zulu 2 and a zulu 3
Any basic mud guard should fit with zip ties. Check your LBS or online store.
have a 34 pound 4 year old that is just switching from the Alpha One to the Zulu Heir Two. Wondering how you figured out air pressure in the fork? Any guidance on PSI to start from?
Start with as little air as possible where the fork will still return, turn rebound dampening off. If O ring show’s he is bottoming out, ad a little more and repeat. Ad rebound dampening if becomes to fast when adding additional air. Have Fun!
