Spawn Pivotal Seat
Available in 2 kids sizes, this is our absolute favorite seat going. When combined with a pivotal seat post this makes for the lowest profile seat/post combo that still has tilt and forward/aft adjustable. This get you a really low minimum seat height for the small kiddos.

Ali Express Carbon seat and post
We dork out on making our kids' bikes light. This seat/post combo will likely cut your seat/post weight in half or more. Truly amazing for the price, the seat with the 10 mm padding is also super comfy. Uncut, the post is 130 and 148 grams respectively in 27.2 and 31.6 diameters. The 143mm kids size seat can be a touch big for some kiddos but with 10mm of padding and weighing just 120 grams., its worth the try. We use for the 5-9 crowd under 80lbs.
Seat MSRP: $29 | Where to buy: Ali Express
Post MSRP: $32 | Where to buy: Ali Express

We bought a 12″ REI Co-Op bike for my 35-month old and my plan was to turn it into a balance bike for her. I removed the pedals, crank, and chain, and it was a balance bike but the stock seat was way too high for her to touch the ground. So I bought a new saddle and post, then I cut the post down and mounted the saddle as low as possible. She can touch on her tippy toes but it’s still too tall for her to flat foot. Can you recommend a saddle that is thin and low for this use case?
Try and grab a pivotal post/seat combo if you can.
My grom just turned 10 and is 4’-8” and just shy of 80lbs. he’s been on the SDG kit since he was 6, but is now on a 26er. Do the saddle recommendations above still cover or is he “adult” saddle now?? Thanks!
I would go Velo Jr Saddle from Trailcraft.
My kiddo is rather tall for a just turned 9 year old (4’9” & 92lbs). He’s riding his 1st mountain bike that is 24” and has a single simple gear shift and caliper brakes. His bike seat isn’t very comfortable so I’m trying to upgrade but having a difficult time finding something that isn’t for little kids or adults. I need something in between… thanks for any advice!
The Velo Jr Saddle will work great.
Noticed you recently added the Ergon SM DH. Just wondering if somebody has already tried it for their kid. Seems legit.. width + length + weight look promising but as it is an adult dh saddle (meaning it is not designed for seating) I’m kind of worried about the comfort. Especially the “hump” (change of saddle height) in the middle. Will probably go for the SDG because of this.
Doesn’t seem to be a problem for ascending comfort.

What do you think of the Ergon SM Downhill saddle as a kids saddle? It has very similar dimensions (120mm x 236mm) to the SDG saddles (122m x 235mm) but is lighter weight (225 grams vs 270 grams). Or, if you get the pro titanium version, it’s 205 grams.

Yeah! Looks good. super low profile rails too for a low minimum seat height. Good find!
