Strider Balance Bikes are probably the most popular balance bikes in North America and for good reason. The light weight design and affordable model options make this bike a great choice for your child's first set of two wheels. Strider has also given back to the sport by developing a BMX race class for run bikes (see our post), learn to ride camps, and facilitation of special needs. They manufacture balance bikes for 18 months to 11+ years. We will be concentrating this review on the original bike for the 18 month to 5 year old age group.

The Bike Dads' Take:
"The Strider is an excellent beginner balance bike. Where it really shines is in those littlest of riders, that 15 month to 2.5 year old age category. It's light weight and low minimum seat height offer a really affordable option for a child's first set of two wheels. For kids 3 years plus you may want to look at some other bikes on the market that offer pneumatic (tubed) tires, sealed bearings, proper headset, handbrake and aluminium construction. Our pick is the $130 Sport model as it comes with quick release seat and handlebar adjustment and a padded seat. Strider's hold their value on the used market so be comfortable knowing you will be able to recoup a good chunk of your investment." -Colin
